36Meals Volunteers from Nepal get into Action!

Shahrukh Hussain is a 19 year old student from Nepal.
Inspired by the concept of 36 Meals and its activities he
moved out of his house to donate meals to the hungry
people in the streets near his place.

An initiative to move out, killed the hunger of 9 people who otherwise would have slept hungry. People from 40+ countries have been supporting us. Nepal gets into Action!

Which country are you from?

Citrix joins hands with 36Meals

There comes a moment in everyone’s life when one wants to re-live certain days but the Merry go round that Life takes us into, hardly permits many to stay for a second longer, no matter how strongly we desire to.  But this wasn’t the case with Volunteers from Citrix.

In a country where CSR ( Corporate Social Responsibility ) is still an acronym to be learnt by many, a bunch of Volunteers from Citrix yet again sprung forward to join hands with 36Meals to participate in a campaign of Meals Donation.

15 Employees from Citrix went around the city and donated 30+ Meals to the poor and needy.  More than a duty it was an activity planned by Mr. Mohan BN who divided them into teams and made it an exciting task.

A very small fraction of the World slept happy because of such an enthusiastic bunch of software engineers.  But we are happy that we could make a difference. You too can.

It needs wisdom of heart to make a decision like his! Harikiran - He makes us PROUD!!!

It was a fine morning just like any other for Harikiran as it was for any one else across the globe. He was excited to be reading a book as it was a part of his task and his to-do, to build better leadership in himself. During this time, the book somewhere happened to mention the facts about the no of people who are hit by the aftermath of being starved, about some who are not blessed to see food for days between every meal they get fortunate to consume, and about others who die in search of one morsel of food.

On this fine morning everyone at his house had gone out for various reasons and he was home alone. He was triggered deeply by these lines and left pondering. He was moved to an extent not many youth at this age feel moved reading something like this. While many just give an expression of "Oh God! How sad!" and they continue reading, he decided something different. He took a decision to make a difference.

It was about lunch time for him just when he came across these lines that changed him as a man forever and he decided to move out of his house and make a difference to at least one life. He decided not to eat himself, until he became a reason to kill the hunger of at least one person. He took his bike and moved around the streets of Bangalore city(in India).

While on the move he saw many who looked like they hadn't eaten much, but eventually he found 3 people by the road side, in a complete slum area and he knew they truly deserved his attention. He spent his pocket money, which he would otherwise, like everyone else, spend that on coffee days, movies and other such stuff, and got them 3 meals.

He made sure they consumed hot meal and were satisfied to have seen food. He was blessing in disguise for them. While there are millions of them who have not seen food for months, are not sure if they will ever get to see someone like Harikiran in their lives, there are another few who would be dead out of hunger before you complete reading this article.

If you truly feel this inspired you to make a difference, GO ahead and DO IT. For, every single person you inspire through this story, there is one more person, poor and needy, we hope and believe will be taken care off. Feel free to share this story with all you know and may more Harikirans be born out of this story.

If you are in some part of the world where you do not think you could find people to help, feel free to contact our TRUST 36meals@gmail.com | www.36meals.com and we will do the needful. For every 36 INR you contribute, we will make sure one person is given the privilege of being fed!

Hunger of more than 100 Killed! Youth Of Bangalore makes their Sunday Morning memorable for themselves & the Needy!

Write up by Mohan BN, Oracle, Bangalore.

Food, clothing and shelter are three basic necessities of life. Everyone of us on this earth are struggling through life to fulfil these three constraints of life. Be it a multi millionaire or a person who earns every meal of his day on that day, no doubt that all of us are in a pursuit to satisfy our basic needs and probably man could have survived even without clothing and shelter but not food for sure. This is the reason food stands at the top of the priority list. It was indeed a great eventful day today when a group of youth woke up to a social call on a Sunday morning when most of the rest were enjoying their cozy sleep on a weekend.

A group of twenty youths studying in different courses and young professionals working in different MNCs got together this morning to be a part of an exciting event of meals donation. I was glad and surprised to be a part of this super happening. This was not just a normal meals donation in an orphanage or an old age home where you just go, donate and feel satisfied for doing the good deed. Today's generation looks for adventure in everything and that is what exactly happened. There were twenty enthusiastic Indians who were grouped into ten teams of two each and were asked to explore random areas of Bangalore, find the needy people in that area and serve them meals as an initiative of IU cares under the banner of 36meals.com. The best part was that people had to take buses to new places. Also this entire task had to be completed within just 120 minutes.

After the entire adventuristic task people came to share their feelings and experience of donating meals. We search around different places to buy things for us but this was the first time for many of us when we searched for someone who needed our service. It was a sense of accomplishment after we had killed the hunger of close to hundred genuinely needy people. It was a reinforcement in us that good deeds can be done in an enjoyable way and that's why I feel that I want to share this event with all of you. An amazing feeling to see a hunger free world set in all of us today. Are you also with us to make this dream realise into reality???

36meals.com First Meals Day report!

36meals.com Updates and Appreciation!

Welcome to all the people who have pledged and also to all the people who haven’t but are reading this blog now. From times immemorial, man has been trying to make his life worth living and tried to do his best in order to have access to the most attractive things. But, what he has forgotten is that, there are millions of his fellow beings who go to sleep hungry every single night. A Helping hand to feed a mouth can save someone’s life. 36meals.com is rightly up for it! In this regard the progress of this vision in just a matter of 60days has been brilliant!
It gives immense pleasure to let you know that almost 750 people from 33 countries are supporting the cause. Exclusively we would like to illuminate the efforts of the Hyderabad team from India, who put efforts to unite on the festival of Diwali(in India) to translate this mission to reality. 60+ meals were donated on the auspicious occasion to the genuine needy.
Kudos to the team in Hyderabad! Meanwhile, the team in Kenya led by Calvin Jodisi has been promoting the cause to all whom they know and have come in touch with, which has passed triggers of inspiration to the lady Ashleigh Sean Rolle, who has taken a BIG presentation in Bahamas for school children!
“Light a lamp & burst a cracker” is age old Diwali; Feed a needy, spread a smile is IU Diwali. Every individual’s effort will be a milestone in the journey to make this mission successful. Together we can erase the problems due to hunger from the world.

36meals.com Meals Day & World Youth Parliament Promotions!

36meals.com is the name that people are chanting all across the globe today. It is really great to see the expanding vision. Definitely, we would like to thank all our representatives, who are supporting this cause and helping us reach our purpose.

This is getting proved again and again that the world still respects and supports good deeds. Well, as all of us know there was a camp conducted by 36meals.com on its 36th day. It’s true that, when you walk with a mission, many join hands for your vision. We were glad to see great responses from different parts of the world. In a single day about 448 meals were donated, meaning, 448 needy, slept hunger free that day.

Meanwhile, It also gives us an immense pleasure to bring to your notice, that recently at the World Youth Parliament at Kenya, our idea of 36meals.com was announced. It gives even more pleasure indeed, to let you know, it was announced by the Your Big Year Ambassador for 2011, Mr. Michael Teoh. Congratulations to all the representatives of the world.

Here we would like to reckon Mr. Calvin Jodisi, from Kenya for his efforts and genuine support. Let us all genuinely get together to make some difference in the lives of those who almost lost the hopes of their sustenance. Being humane is what makes us different from other animals. After all they also have rights to live. Many are dying due to hunger. Let us show them what the word ‘world’ means in real. Let’s do it.

Regards,

36meals.com Team
